As the curtains closed on the highly anticipated 2023 MJBizCon in Las Vegas, we are excited to share the highlights and emerging trends that took center stage at our booth.
ISM's conference presence showcased a diverse portfolio of cutting-edge water-soluble liquids and powders, captivating attendees with the extraordinary capabilities of our ultrasonic systems and NanoStabilizers®, and formulation development capabilities.
The event drew a large crowd, and we were delighted to welcome numerous existing and potential clients from well-known food and infused beverage brands to our booth.
Our experience at the trade show was marked by several groundbreaking pre-clinical study and product launches, as well as innovative updates to our ultrasonic systems, reaffirming our commitment to driving innovation in the industry.
Here are some takeaways the ISM team members have from the expos.
ISM Product launches and updates:
1. Peer-reviewed Paper and Pre-clinical Trial Completion
In a move towards transparency and scientific rigor, we proudly presented our pre-clinical study and peer-reviewed paper detailing the extensive research conducted on our products.
We recently completed a groundbreaking pre-clinical pharmacokinetic study comparing two orally administered Δ8-THC nanoemulsions (liquid and powdered) with a Δ8-THC solution in MCT oil. This study took center stage at our booth. The results demonstrate the significant advantages of nanoemulsions produced with ISM's ultrasonic equipment and NanoStabilizers®, and are detailed in our latest manuscript, currently in press at AAPS PharmSciTech, an official journal of The American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists.
2. We Launched a Brand-New Extraction Systems Product Line
Specifically designed for the most challenging and high-value extraction projects, the new ISM ultrasonic system enables companies to swiftly extract a diverse array of botanicals on both small and large scales, creating a faster ROI for the customer. The capital equipment cost of the ISM extraction processor is a fraction of that of its competitors, effectively eliminating high startup costs as an obstacle.
To further support our clients, we are also introducing a flexible rental and leasing program. This initiative allows companies to access our cutting-edge technology without the need for a significant upfront investment, making it easier than ever to scale operations and achieve rapid returns.
3. Reactor Chambers - Cooling Upgrade
We have designed our BSP-1200 and ISP-3600 processors reactor chambers to include a cooling jacket for precise temperature control and a longer liquid path through the cavitation zone for extended residence time.
4. New Patented Ultrasonic Horn for BSP-1200
We have a new patented Barbell Horn design added to the BSP-1200 system. This innovative ultrasonic horn can be used for both batch and flow-through processing, making the switch between production and R&D batches much more efficient for our customers.
5. Exciting Nano-Formulation Portfolio Developments
We have made several exciting advancements in our nano-formulation portfolio as well. We are now able to convert bioactives such as mitragynine from kratom, berberine, curcumin, piperine, mushroom extracts, and other alkaloids into water-soluble forms, opening up many new and interesting product possibilities for our customers.

ISM is the first and only company that offers high-intensity, scalable, turn-key ultrasonic equipment and nano-formulations for manufacturing the highest quality, fast-acting food and functional beverage products.
How are we able to do that?
It is our Barbell Horn Ultrasonic Technology (BHUT)—our core intellectual property—that is making it possible to increase the size of an ultrasonic processor without losing the required high amplitude. BHUT-based laboratory, bench and industrial-scale ultrasonic processors can all provide extremely high ultrasonic amplitudes (over 100 microns).
For a more in-depth exploration of BHUT, we invite you to watch this informative short video:
Barbell Horn® Ultrasonic Technology by Industrial Sonomechanics
Countless liquid processing applications stand to gain from the potent high shear forces produced through ultrasonic cavitation. In the following video, you'll discover how ISM's patented Barbell Horn Ultrasonic Technology (BHUT) empowers customers across a wide range of industries, including pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, dermatology, food and beverage, to improve production efficiency and enhance product quality significantly.
