SONOMECHANICS water soluble powders and liquids

One of the most common questions we receive from customers is about the long-term stability of nanoemulsions made with our All-In-One NanoStabilizer® systems—both the liquid (LT) and powdered (LSO) formats—when used with our ultrasonic processors (lab-, bench-, or industrial-scale) or third-party high-pressure homogenizers. Specifically, customers want to know how well droplet sizes hold up over time, which is key to maintaining the exceptional pharmacokinetic performance (high bioavailability and short onset times) these water-soluble formulations are known for.

The answer? Incredibly well.

Liquid Nanoemulsion: Still Stable After 5 Years

A 20 mg/mL CBD Isolate nanoemulsion produced with NanoStabilizer®-LT in August, 2020 (left in the figure below) was re-evaluated in April 2025 (right in the figure below)—five years after it was made. The sample remained translucent with no visual signs of phase separation or degradation. Droplet size measurements showed practically no variation compared to the original profile.

We also tested a 20 mg/ml peppermint oil nanoemulsion, made with the same NanoStabilizer®-LT system in February, 2023 (left in the figure below). More than two years later, its droplet size distribution (right in the figure below) and clarity remained virtually unchanged.

Powdered Nanoemulsions Hold Up Just As Well

Nanoemulsions created with NanoStabilizer®-LSO, our powdered-format system, also demonstrate lasting stability. A 200 mg/ml CBD extract nanoemulsion produced in March, 2022 (left in the figure below) was tested three years later—again, droplet size measurements (right in the figure below) matched the original data, showing no signs of instability.

Stability in Real-World Infused Products

These results aren’t just lab phenomena—they translate directly to real-world applications. Nanoemulsions produced with NanoStabilizer®-LT and LSO remain stable across a variety of infused formats, including:

  • Carbonated and still beverages
  • Gummies and edibles
  • Tinctures and shots
  • Oral sprays and topicals
  • Many other products

Whether you're working with cannabinoids, essential oils, or other lipophilic bioactives, NanoStabilizer®-LT and LSO provide robust, long-term stability—keeping your products performing as intended for years.
